o_o; this is my first tutorial, so sorry it kinda sucks... it might not answer all your questions... if you have any not answered here, or in this description, comment with them, and I'll be glad to answer. You only need a tablet to do the outlines like I do, and even then, they can be mimicked with a mouse by using the sizes pixel 1 and pixel 2 alternately to achieve the same effect (if you are patient).
You can download the tablet pressure activator HERE: [link]
this REALLY helps for tablets, and it's really nice. Sorry mouse folk I used to be one of you guys til about 6 months ago... you should really get a tablet if you find making art is slow: it WON'T help your quality unless you're already an artist who likes making quality art, it will just speed things up and simplify things. I know what I'm talking about, you can check my gallery to see that I used to make lots of quality art with just a simple mouse, too. They took a lot more time than they currently do to make.
In any case, this picture took 32 screencaps to make, and it was... well, was it worth it? please tell me if this helps ANY of you guys, as I'd really love to know if I helped someone. It would make my day ^^
OH MAN. I never did know how to use Shi-Painter. x_x I remember my early attempts... couldn't even do layers then. xD
I shall try it out and report back! And I agree with you whole heartedly on the mouse/tablet thing. A lot of people really think getting a tablet will make their artwork "better"... x_x;;
yeah... it's crazy. people need TALENT in order to make good pictures; if you can't draw well on paper, don't bother with a tablet, as it's a transferable skill. PRACTICE! don't waste money o_o
And I meant to say thank you for the tablet pressure activator! Never knew such a thing existed particularly for the oekaki stuff! *life = much easier!*
Hey, you actually did this. o_o Thank you so much, PK! *hugs*
Or was it even because I suggested it somewhere? XD;

Wow, I don't CG anymore so I can't say this is of any use to me but I always like seeing "step-by-step" pictures. <3 I think it was amusing to see how you got to your final product. Though it's sad that some people think that they will be able to draw like that just because they got a tutorial. xD Skills don't come along with it~! I like how you add highlights. <3 Reminds me of how I wanna do that with pencils but I need to find the white paint for it, gnn. Anyhow, your style of CGing is quite unique and it's what makes your artwork special. <3
Do keep it up~!

There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
