PK's face reflects her inner feelings at the moment for sure. To bad she's not getting a break in the near future. Still can't help but think she'd still punch my face. I almost forgot how young Rhodes was until I saw this pic. Hard to believe he's a guide of the forest. Definitely lovin' Malt's gijinka design, hairstyle and clothes n' all. Sandy looks awesome as well.
Alright, I'm pretty sure that you're used to positive remarks, so I'll just put in my two cents and call it a day.
I actually miss PK's old design. She seemed fresh and original and, well, YOU. Perhaps my inability to find this design better links to the fact that the old design was so incredibly-bizarre is not the word I'm looking for, but even while PK's mood has been darker, she's still retained a saucy edge. Rhodes looks good. He's very young in your story and I think you did well in capturing this. Awesome. And Sandy looks fine, as well. However Sandy reminds me very much of Toph from ATLA. It may be the combination of bare feet and hair covering the eyes. Which now that I think of it, reminds me less of Toph and more of Nodoka from Negima. Still, I truly do find the colour pallets that you use completely on the mark as far as what Pokemon they represent. Malt is nice and plain, and to be honest, that's refreshing, too! I love the sturdy look he has and I have always had a difficult time with drawing paunch of any sort, so huzzah! Sometimes, I think people do not draw their gijinkas looking "ordinary" because gijinkas have some sort of supposed rule that they must be exotic. Good job breaking down that wall.
I hope this comment does not offend. As always, I look forward to more of your outstanding work in literature and drawing.
I feel like old PK's design had to be replaced for a couple of reasons: first off, it was winter and snowy for a good while! That probably prompted her to use a coat in the first place, if we're talking gijinka and correct setting. Second of all, it was too lighthearted for the current mood. I understand your thoughts, but I feel like this captures the shift for now. She'll undergo more wardrobe shifts in the future though, I assure you!
As far as Sandy goes, I didn't know who Toph was until I asked friends just a bit ago. So that's just an odd coincidence I suppose, haha
Anyway, thank you for a longer comment - they are hard to come by, and they are nice to read in any case!
I always love your artwork. PK already reminded me of someone, but you musta delved into my mind cause she's rather spot on as a gijinka as well. I really hope PK's able to make things up with Shroomsworth, someday at least.
