I love the originals.......but Ruby and Saphire have really grown on me too. I loved and hated some of the designs. Ruby and Saphire seem a bit more....stylish then the past ones. I dunno....
I waiting on the newest gen to really say something about this.
Everyone knows the fire starters are always the coolest, and the best games in the series were undoubtedly the gold/silver generation. It's just... a fact of life
Really tough for me between G/S/C and R/S/E/LG/FR.
I think the reason I chose the latter is because it felt like there was such an insane amount of areas to explore. I was drawn in and captured by the beauty of the pixelated landscape.
The reason so many people dislike the 4th gen pokemon isn't for any personal issues with something new. The newest generation obviously has poor design issues.
Take the water weasle for example. Its evolution looks nearly identical to its first form, just a tad bit taller and angrier-looking.
Some are illogical, like the grass starter. Besides the fact that we ALREADY have a grass starter that has plants growing out of its back, this one's plant seems to have migrated from it's head to it's back. Also, here's a little tip on designing creatures: if it looks like an anklyosaur with a tree on it's back, you've failed.
Some, like the final penguin starter form and magmar's evo look like megaman level boss rejects, and tangela's evolution is just tangela with arms!!
I could go on forever with this.. anyways, sadly to say, pokemon has lost its.. "poke-ness" I once felt inspired to create when I saw the thought that went into designing each character, but now I just feel sick to see what has happened to my childhood fascination.
RBY for me, but my absolute favorite pokemon is Furret, which is in the next gen along. And i love a lot from the most recent two generations as well... But the first gen had the most character and charm, IMO.
